The job

What an ambassador does

Three simple ways to connect people, encourage participation, and help your region’s voices reach a national stage.

Open the door

Introduce the State of the American Address® contest to clubs, schools, and civic groups in your region. Your role is simple: share the opportunity, encourage participation, and help people discover a free national stage for their vision of a greater America.

Host the conversation

Lead brief webinars introducing SOTAA to club, school, and civic group leaders. The founder will join you for your first few sessions to help you get started. Keep it simple: a 20-minute introduction followed by questions and conversation.

Welcome the next ambassadors

Help new ambassadors get started by sharing what you learn. As one of our ten Founding Ambassadors, you’ll help shape the program and set the example for everyone who follows.

We are seeking two Founding Ambassadors in each of our five regions. Ten people who can help turn local connections into national participation.

What you receive

Recognition as a Founding Ambassador, materials to support your outreach, and credit for your contributions. There is no fee to join. This is a volunteer role.

Founding recognition that lasts

Only ten people will hold the title of Founding Ambassador. Your place among them will be permanently recorded, recognizing your role in helping launch the program.

Ready-to-use outreach material

Receive a media kit customized with your organization’s name, a personal sign-up link that tracks the participants you introduced, and printed handouts to share in your community.

Recognition for your outreach

Each contest entry submitted through your personal sign-up link is credited to you. Both you and the SOTAA team can track the participation your outreach generates.

1

Who you are

Just enough to get back to you.

2

Who you can reach

An ambassador opens doors. We would like to know which ones you can open.

Leave blank if you are coming on your own.

Optional. Useful, not required.

3

Why you

In your own words. Short is fine.

A person already doing this unprompted is the strongest thing an application can show.

This is the most useful answer on the form.

No cost, and no obligation either way.

Questions people ask

Is this a paid position?

The Founding Ambassador role is a volunteer position with no salary. You receive permanent founding recognition, customized outreach materials, and credit for the contest participation generated through your personal sign-up link.

How much time should I expect to commit?

Plan to volunteer about three hours per week, most weeks. You’ll use that time to contact organizations, lead short introductory webinars, and follow up with interested groups. Preparing for a webinar may take extra time in some weeks; the SOTAA team will help you get started.

What happens if I’m not selected?

There are only two Founding Ambassador positions in each region. If you are not selected, you can still participate in SOTAA and encourage others to join. If your region’s founding positions are filled, your application will be considered for the next group of ambassadors.

Do I have to compete in SOTAA?

No. Your role is to introduce the contest to organizations, encourage participation, and support outreach in your region. You do not need to enter the contest or submit a speech.

What happens once all ten Founding Ambassador positions are filled?

Applications received after the founding positions are filled will be considered for the next group of ambassadors. The original ten will retain their Founding Ambassador recognition and help guide new ambassadors as the program grows.

Can my organization apply, or must I apply as an individual?

Founding Ambassador positions are for individuals. You may apply as a representative of your club, school, congregation, or civic organization, but you will personally carry out the ambassador’s responsibilities.

Do I need an online following or experience hosting events?

No. Connections within your community are just as valuable as an online following. You do not need event-hosting experience; the SOTAA team will provide materials and guidance to help you get started.

Will I have to sell anything or collect money?

No. Your role is to introduce SOTAA, explain the opportunity to participate for free, and encourage interested people and organizations to sign up.

Is this a political or partisan role?

This is a nonpartisan role. Ambassadors welcome people across political backgrounds and introduce SOTAA as a national stage for civic expression, without promoting a political party or candidate.

What support will I receive for my first webinar?

You’ll receive customized outreach materials and a personal sign-up link. The founder will join your first few webinars to help introduce the contest and answer questions. Each session can be a simple 20-minute introduction followed by questions and conversation.

How will my outreach be recognized?

Contest entries submitted through your personal sign-up link will be credited to you. Both you and the SOTAA team can track the participation your outreach generates. You’ll also receive permanent recognition as one of the program’s ten Founding Ambassadors.
