My name is Robert Lou. I represent the state of Minnesota and region two of the state of the American address contest. The issue I am most concerned about is access to affordable child care. Minnesota reports describe capacity challenges statewide. When parents cannot find care, they may reduce work hours, leave jobs or postpone education. This problem affects the founding principles of liberty, equality and the pursuit of happiness. Parents cannot exercise economic freedom when caring for their child conflicts with earning a living. Children also deserve a fair beginning, regardless of their zip code. My vision is a Minnesota child care exchange. Schools, employers, faith communities, licensed providers and local governments would share facilities, staff resources and verified openings through one statewide network. Employers could sponsor neighborhood care slots and retired educators could receive streamlined pathways to serve. Rural communities could operate training teams for new providers. A public dashboard would measure openings, costs, safety and results. This is not simply a family issue. It is workforce infrastructure that strengthens communities and our economy. Now I am calling on my family, friends, and fellow Minnesotans.
